Live Your Life By Your OWN Rules!

Open letter to young people today!

by Mikael Hoffmann

As a teenager growing up, life for me was a battle.
I had a good childhood, but as I became older I found myself constantly navigating rough waters, trying to make sense of events and circumstances that presented themselves as obstacles on my path of life.

I have made all the mistakes in life one man can ever make.
Part of my career choices, many of my financial choices and some of my relationship choices. I do wish that my life had been easier growing up, but I don't regret anything! How could I? The adversity I have suffered has shaped me into who I am today, and I am very happy with myself, and my life now.

Interestingly enough, I have been able to heal my own pains by helping others who have faced the same challenges that I did and that has been very rewarding for me in several ways.

I have been able to see my early life differently and make some sense of things that made no sense at all when I was young.
I have also learned valuable insights from other people which in addition to my own experiences has made me even better at helping others, and of course the tremendous feeling of fulfillment that I get from being able to help people live a better life.

For young people growing up in this ever-changing world I have three suggestions for living a better life, a more prosperous life and a more satisfying life.

First, I would suggest that young people find a mentor or a coach to help them make better, quicker decisions. If I had done that as a teenager and young man I would have been more courageous, more adventurous and more direct about going for what I really wanted.

Second, as a teenager, I would strongly recommend exploring the idea of being an entrepreneur. Being in business for yourself in a business that you totally enjoy, can make you financially independent and best of all there is nobody telling you what to do or when to do it or who to do it with.
You decide for yourself.

I am in that position now and if I had known how easy it was and how much fun it was I would definitely have started earlier.

You just have to do it right!

There are many things that you can do to start and run your own business that might not be quite so obvious to a teenager or a young person. This is another area where a coach or mentor can help.

Third, I would suggest that young people be much less concerned about what other people think of them. It will hold you back from making bold choices, and in reality, what anyone else thinks of you is of no consequence in the whole scheme of life.

Compared to my friends I was 'the lonely rider', but even so it was still a concern about what others thought of me.
Not so now.
How I live my life and what I do is always my choice, and I really enjoy living my life according to my own rules.

"There is only one true success.
To be able to live your life in your own way."
